Unite Oregon is seeking a Service to Organizing Director to implement and manage Unite Oregon’s Service to Organizing (S2O) Model. This model is built on the belief that folks experiencing the greatest social, economic and racial inequities should be at the center of our advocacy work. It creates a pathway to connect community members we serve through our direct services programs to our leadership development programs and leadership councils and other policy and system change organizing and advocacy opportunities. The S2O Director will be responsible for operationalizing this model at Unite Oregon. This includes hiring and  supervising direct service outreach workers, database manager, and working closely with our state-wide team to ensure advocacy and other field efforts are aligned with Direct Service work.

Position Title: Service to Organizing Director

Duration: Full Time, Ongoing
Compensation: $60-$65,000 per year depending on experience; generous and progressive benefits including medical and dental care 100% of premiums paid by Unite Oregon, paid wellness leave, vacation, flex time, and personal days off.

The S2O Director will be responsible for operationalizing this model at Unite Oregon. This includes hiring and  supervising direct service outreach workers, database manager, and working closely with our state-wide team to ensure advocacy and other field efforts are aligned with Direct Service work.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities, in collaboration with Unite Oregon’s statewide directors team, are as follows:

  • Increase our direct service capacity through fundraising activities. Includes identifying and supporting procurement of appropriate funding sources.
  • Supervise direct service outreach workers
  • Serve on state-wide directors team, working closely with Field and Political Director
  • Train Unite Oregon staff in the S2O Model and help develop and implement processes that coordinate community organizing and direct service work
  • Collaborate with database manager to develop and operate a CRM that centers research justice practices and integrates direct service and advocacy work
  • Managing, tracking, and reporting of Direct Service grant deliverables
  • Participate in Unite Oregon staff meetings, retreats, and board meetings as needed
  • Assist in communication support for the project both internally and externally via social media, email, phone, newsletters, earned media, etc. 
  • Support fundraising and grant-writing

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while maintaining solid communication with and accountability to the Executive Director (ED), State-wide Directors team, and Chapter Directors.
  • Trauma-informed direct service management, supervision, and strategic planning experience
  • Advocacy and organizing experience
  • Social work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
  • Proficient with technology including word processing, Powerpoint, spreadsheets, social media
  • Anti-oppression, anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion work experience
  • Availability to work during evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong track record in fundraising, grant procurement, and program implementation in support of organizational mission and community need.
  • Experience in, or interest in working in an organization that is primarily staffed by and serves immigrant, refugee, and Black, Indigenous, People of Color
  • Strong facilitation skills
