East Portland has been historically underserved and underestimated. It’s time to leverage the strengths of this community: resiliency, ingenuity, diversity, entrepreneurship, multilingual and cross-cultural networks, and intergenerational living. We have the strength and knowledge to transform East Portland to a place of equitable economic prosperity. We are bringing together the community to:

Investing in East Portland
Rising rents and gentrification have displaced immigrants, refugees, people experiencing poverty, and Black and Brown people from North and Northeast Portland. Together we have made East Portland our home. But potential development planned without us could threaten our shared future. We must take a stand to counter the effects of climate change, displacement, and gentrification.
Unite Oregon’s East Portland Community Prosperity Initiative aims to build economic prosperity that includes wealth creation and asset retention for our communities of color by empowering our community to advocate for ownership housing, anti-displacement, business entrepreneurship, workforce development, transportation safety, climate justice and educational opportunities.
Our goal is to empower East Portland communities to construct a proactive economic prosperity and neighborhood revitalization strategy designed to avoid the displacement which typically occurs when neighborhoods prosper.
Unite Oregon is engaging our new neighbors, listening to ideas and solutions that will transform East Portland into a place of shared prosperity. We’re working with local vendors and entrepreneurs to support their work and connect them with the community. With the East Portland Community Prosperity program, we can support and amplify the voices of East Portland residents fighting for equitable investments and economic justice.
Today’s East Portland residents will envision and create their own future – working alongside policymakers, partner organizations, and local businesses – creating their own, thriving tomorrow.
